Savage

The Carpathians, 17th century.
A nobleman, Maciej, discovers a wild, mute boy with a scar on his throat in the mountains and entrusts him to the care of a trusted shamaness. The boy, known as Wild, grows up bonded with peers from various social castes and falls in love with Maryna, Maciej’s daughter. However, the group of teenagers becomes caught in brutal conflicts between the castes. After Wild’s legendary intervention, the band retreats to the mountains.

Fifteen years later, an inquisitor known as the Hunter from Carcassone arrives, ostensibly searching for stolen papal insignia. In reality, his mission is to sow discord among the highlanders to facilitate their forced resettlement for Habsburg strategic interests. The Hunter sets his plan in motion, but the mountains’ living legend — Wild and his band — stands in his way. Discovering a connection between Wild and Maciej, the Hunter uses it as bait.

Wild survives, but the Hunter kidnaps Maryna and kills Maciej. With his dying breath, Maciej tells Wild to save his sister. The shaman confirms that Wild and Maryna are siblings. Traumatized by his father’s death, Maryna’s abduction, and the revelation of their kinship, Wild becomes the Hunter’s greatest obsession. The Hunter incites the highlanders against Wild, while Maryna, imprisoned, learns the truth about the resettlement plan. She drugs the Hunter and escapes, but at the cost of being assaulted. She informs the band about the Habsburg plan.

Determined that no enemy will leave the mountains alive, Wild leaves his sister with the shaman and hunts down the Hunter’s men one by one, while his band tries to unite the warring highlander castes. The Hunter coerces a betrayal from one band member, captures Maryna, murders the shaman, and attempts to escape to Vienna with her. Unable to unite the highlanders, Wild catches up with the Hunter, lures him into a cave, and kills him in an explosion, sacrificing himself. His death finally unites the highlander clans. Nine months later, the united highlanders rise against the arriving Habsburg army.
